See demos of what’s new and coming for Microsoft Stream in this roadmap video
The future of video at work is bright and promising with Microsoft Stream, the enterprise video solution within Microsoft 365. Today, we’re introducing new experiences that put video into the flow of your everyday work. With new tools and features such as Copilot, quick trim, translations, video playback and recording in Outlook, and more, you’ll be able to make your videos more engaging and accessible to people at your work or school.
AI-powered video editing of web cam and screen recordings
It’s not always easy to do a quick web cam or screen recording. When you make a video, whether it’s an update on a project, a product demo, or a how-to video, you probably fumble on a few sentences and notice too many filler words like ummm or aah in your final recording. Soon, you can just keep recording and AI will figure out the best takes and make the final version coherent and clean. Remove ums, uhs, filler words, and pauses automatically. For further cleanup you can even just delete words from the transcript to edit a part of the recording. This feature will save you time and reduce the frustration of recording and editing videos at work and school. These features, available in Stream and Clipchamp, are expected to be released in stages over 2024.
AI-powered video editing of web cam and screen recordings will be available Stream in stages over 2024
Copilot in Stream
As announced in September, Copilot in Stream lets you quickly catch up on videos in your organization, whether it’s the latest Teams meeting recording, town hall, product demo, how-to, or onsite videos from front line workers. Copilot helps you get what you need from your videos in seconds! You can use it to:
• Summarize any video to identify relevant points you need to watch.
• Ask questions to get insights from long or detailed videos.
• Locate where people, teams, or topics are discussed and jump to that point in the video.
We expect Copilot in Stream to enter general availability in May 2024 for customers who have a Microsoft 365 Copilot license. Learn more.
Copilot in Stream helps you quickly find the information you need in videos.
Transcript translations
For those in multi-lingual organizations it’s important to create content that’s easy for coworkers to view and understand in their primary language. Transcript translations give you the option to translate the transcript and closed captions of videos into over 100 supported languages. Once translated, viewers can read the translated captions and transcript while watching the video. You’ll pay a small fee based on the transcript’s character count when you enable users in specific sites to translate video transcripts. Learn more.
Stream transcripts can now be translated into over 100 languages
Auto-generated video transcripts
Transcripts and captions make videos accessible for viewers who are deaf or hearing-impaired. They also give viewers a fast way to search for information and navigate to a specific point in a video and compliance teams a way to search videos via eDiscovery. We’re happy to announce that Stream now automatically generates transcripts for videos uploaded in places meant for wider sharing of content like SharePoint sites, Teams teams, & Viva Engage communities. We’ll also be analyzing usage patterns and adding other workflows that will trigger auto-transcription of videos in the future. This feature is now available worldwide and coming to government clouds soon.
Stream will automatically generates transcripts for videos created in Stream or uploaded to OneDrive or SharePoint.
Microsoft Clipchamp now generally available for commercial customers

Enhanced screen recording
When making a how-to, instructional, or demo video, you want a tool that makes creating a screenshare video simple and straightforward. Now it’s easy to make polished, professional screen recordings with Stream. When start a screen recording from Stream, you can choose your layout of screen share and web camera, including the shape your picture-in-picture to appear in. Plus, your teleprompter is just a tap away so there’s no need to remember all your talking points, just load in your script or talking points before you start recording. These features will help you create engaging, polished videos. These changes are rolling out now,see roadmap #185383 for more information.

Stream video recordings in Outlook
Recording and sending videos in emails is a great way to convey a message that is difficult to express in writing. Videos can help you explain complex ideas better, demonstrate how to use a product or service, or simply add a personal touch to your message.
We’re adding the ability to record short videos and screen recordings right from Outlook while you are composing an email message. Simply tap the camera icon and start recording, when you're done, the video will appear in the email you are composing. When you send it to people in your organization using Outlook on the web or the new Outlook, they can watch the video directly inline. The recordings you create in Outlook are stored in your OneDrive. We expect this feature to be available by March 2024.See roadmap #185369 for more information.
Soon you’ll be able to record a video directly in Outlook to quickly send a video message
Stream App in Teams
We've updated the Stream app in Teams so that it now takes you to theStream start page rather than Stream (Classic). With this change you can get right to all the videos you’ve created, favorited, or that have been shared with you, without leaving Teams.
The Stream app in Teams now opens the Stream start page
Video quick trim
Sometimes you need to quickly trim out parts of a video before sharing it. Video trim has been our most requested feature this year, and we’re happy to say that it will be available soon. When you trim a video, Stream won’t change the original video file itself. Instead, it hides the trimmed parts from your viewers and adjusts the transcript and chapters to match what is shown. You’ll be able to trim the start and end of your video as well as any parts in the middle. When you're done trimming you can toggle to the preview mode to see the trimmed video just like your viewers will see. The trim feature is expected to become available in early 2024,see roadmap #186956 for more information.
Video trimming will soon be available when editing a Stream video
Interactivity, callouts, and forms
Soon you can make your Stream videos more engaging by adding interactive elements such as clickable callouts and links. These callouts can be displayed in any section of a video, and you can customize their color, style, and position. Links on the callouts are clickable, so viewers can easily find more information. You can also link to Microsoft Forms at any point during the video to add a quiz, survey, or poll for your viewers. The interactive elements will be shown on the video timeline and displayed as people watch your video. Adding interactive elements to your videos engage your audience and creates a more immersive experience, helping your viewers better understand complex concepts, and giving them a way to get more information about topics in the video. See roadmap #180795 for more information on callouts, and roadmap #180796 for more information on Forms.

Audio descriptions and dubbed audio tracks
In global organizations, not everyone speaks the same language, and we all want our videos to be accessible to as many people as possible. Now in Stream, corporate communication teams can use a single video in Stream with multiple audio tracks. This can be used to have alternative audio tracks for audio descriptions to describe what’s happening in between the talking, as an aid for users who are blind or vision impaired, or if you want to dub the video into other languages spoken in your org. Alternative audio tracks are now available in Stream. Learn more...
You can now add alternate audio tracks and audio descriptions to Stream videos
Collaborate on notes from Teams meeting recordings
When you miss a meeting, Teams meeting recordings are there to help you catch up. And now you can view and collaborate on the Loop meeting notes directly while watching the recording. This feature helps you respond, engage, and be a part of meetings even when you missed them. See roadmap #164191 for more information.
Now you can collaborate on meeting notes in Teams meeting recordings
Present & co-watch Stream videos in Teams meetings
Sharing a video on a Teams call has been tricky in the past. You first needed to remember to share your screen with system audio enabled, share a screen or window, and then play your video, even then the playback experience isn't great over screen sharing. But now we're making it easier with Stream video co-watch. Co-watch is like the PowerPoint Live sharing experience, where you share the PowerPoint slides directly in a Teams meeting and people on the call can skip ahead or sync back to the presenter’s location. With Stream video co-watch, you share the video directly from the Stream video player and people in the meeting can use the player controls independently to turn on closed captions, explore the transcript, or even skip ahead and sync back to where the presenter is in the video. People in the meeting will have an improved video playback experience because each person is streaming the video independently, like they would if they watched the video themselves in Stream. Details on timing of this feature will be shared on the roadmap soon.
Stream web parts and video news posts for SharePoint
You can now feature a single video or set of videos in your SharePoint sites using the new Stream web part. The new Stream web part can be added to any SharePoint page or news post and used in conjunction with other web parts. Or you can create a new video news post right from Stream from the Share menu in a video you are viewing. Additionally, when you want to create a news post in SharePoint with a video, you can quickly get started with video focused templates. Videos and SharePoint news posts are a great combination because news posts reach wide audiences as they get distributed on sites, in the Viva and Microsoft feeds, and via email. See roadmap #124823 for more information on SharePoint video pages, and roadmap #124800 for more information on the new Stream web part.

Gallery view and filters now available on Stream start page
Exciting video-focused updates are now available for the Stream start page. To simplify video viewing and discovery, we're introducing a gallery view with video thumbnails that help you visual identify your videos. We’re also adding filters to refine what shows on the page based on criteria such as videos created by you, meeting recordings, shared and more.

Media-focused search results in Stream
You can already search for videos in Microsoft 365 based on metadata or words that appear in the video transcript. However, sometimes, videos don't appear as the top results. To help you locate videos more quickly in search results, the Stream start page and the Stream web app now prioritize videos in the search results. When searching for videos try searching from the Stream start page or from the search bar on the Stream player page. This feature is now available.

Each of these new Microsoft Stream experiences help to put video into the flow of your everyday work. With new tools and features such as Copilot, quick trim, translations, video playback and recording in Outlook, and more, videos will be simpler to make, share and watch at work or at school.
